Cyprus

Taking shape CY / CYP Asia

Cyprus has a compact but highly mobile beekeeping system. Official 2024 statistics recorded 681 registered beekeepers, 56,835 overwintering colonies and 369,740 kg of honey, while nearly four-fifths of colonies were associated with migratory beekeeping that follows seasonal flowering. The island's honey portfolio includes citrus-rich spring harvests, thyme and eucalyptus summer honeys, and forest honeydew, while the native Cypriot honey bee Apis mellifera cypria remains an important Bee relationship. Because hives move extensively, HC should be cautious about turning a Producer's home district into Honey origin.
