About the Producer

A little history

The former sole-proprietor business, “Čebelarstvo in predelava lesa, Žarko Šnajdar s.p.,” was deregistered on 28 February 2023. Beekeeping sales and exhibition activity continued after that date: he supplied honey at a Kostel event in December 2024 and was listed as an exhibitor offering honey and bee products in 2026. The legal and operating form after deregistration has not been established from the public sources reviewed.

How They Work

Apiary Or Forage

Kočevski gozdni med protected-designation production area, Slovenia

Šnajdar is named in the Kočevski gozdni med producer group. The European protected-designation documentation states that origin control covers beekeeper/apiary locations and that the production region is bounded in part by the Čabranka and Kolpa rivers. This supports participation in the designated regional system, not the location of every apiary or every harvest.

Retail

Kostel, Slovenia

The Municipality of Kostel identified Šnajdar as a provider of honey and honey products at a local December 2024 market event; the newly opened Kostel tourist-information centre also listed his honey and comb honey among local products.

Šnajdar appears on the 2023 producer-group member list of Združenje Kočevski med.
