Museum Room

Foundation Collection

Why are we doing this?
Build the Museum’s first representative collection of remarkable honeys from around the world.

Mission Objective:
The Foundation Collection establishes the Museum’s first permanent body of research.

Rather than attempting to catalog every honey or every producer, this mission seeks discoveries that best represent the remarkable diversity of honey throughout the world.

Scout should favor significance over popularity, relationships over categories, and enduring museum value over temporary interest.

Every Lead collected during this mission should strengthen the Museum for years to come.

Success Criteria

Approximately 100 high-quality Scout Leads have been collected.

The collection includes:

  • Honeys
  • Producers
  • Stories
  • Atlas Places
  • Honey Science
  • Bee Culture

Multiple continents are represented.

Michigan is well represented.

The collection demonstrates diversity of geography, culture, science, craftsmanship, and history.
