Guyana

Guyana's honey industry is growing at a startling pace. Government figures show production rising from 2,128 gallons in 2023 to 27,601 gallons in 2024 and 38,574 gallons in 2025. Registered beekeepers also increased from 160 in 2024 to 213 in 2025. Much of the older industry lives along the coastal belt, where fourth-generation beekeeper Shivpaul Rajkumar keeps Africanized bees beside black mangrove sea defenses in West Coast Berbice. His operation reported about 1,000 gallons during one particularly strong four-month 2025 flow. Now the map is expanding inland. In 2026 Guyana launched a major apiculture project in Region Nine, distributing approximately 340 hives in Nappi, Parishara and Hiawa, particularly to women. Guyana is also developing digital traceability intended to connect honey with its apiary, vegetation and processing facility. In only a few years, the country is moving from a small coastal craft toward a geographically traceable national honey system.
