Country
Argentina
Argentina is a major honey country with a surprisingly modern story developing underneath its export industry. Government reporting in 2025 counted roughly 22,330 registered producers and 4.2 million hives, with more than 90% of production destined for international markets. Argentina also exports queen bees and is actively using public-private genetics programs to improve breeding stock. But the most interesting Atlas development may be geographical: in only two years Argentina registered distinctive honey indications for Tucumán lemon blossom, Córdoba native forest and the flowers of Atamisqui in Santiago del Estero. That gives Honey Chronicles three very different terroirs almost immediately—commercial citrus orchards, native woodland and dry Chaco vegetation. Farther north, beekeepers in El Impenetrable are organizing community honey production through the Los Meleros cooperative. Argentina's story isn't merely “lots of honey exported.” It is increasingly about identifying where a honey came from and what landscape produced it.
