Finland asks bees to do a year's work inside an unusually short northern summer. In 2024 the country had about 2,900 beekeepers and 86,544 wintered colonies, while only a small number of operations kept more than 150 hives. North Karelia offers boreal forest and meadow honey shaped by fireweed, wild raspberry, lingonberry, bilberry and clover. Farther north, Polar-Honey moves colonies into Lapland and has experimented with production hundreds of kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. Finland therefore becomes a natural Atlas experiment: forest honey, berry-country honey and Arctic honey produced under extremely long summer daylight.
