Country
Turkey
Turkey—officially Türkiye—has one of the world's largest beekeeping sectors and one of Honey Chronicles' richest protected-honey maps. Official 2025 statistics record 96,646 beekeeping enterprises, 8,817,155 colonies and 97,253 tonnes of honey. Pine honey is especially distinctive: it is honeydew honey created when bees collect secretions produced by Marchalina hellenica insects feeding on pine sap. Muğla Pine Honey, Bingöl Honey and Yenice Linden Honey each have registered geographical protection, while Turkey's native Bee landscape contains several regional Apis mellifera populations rather than one national subspecies.
