Timor-Leste

Taking shape TL / TLS Asia

Timor-Leste's honey story is still emerging commercially, but culturally it is much older. Wild Apis dorsata migrations cross the Timor-Leste–Indonesia border through a landscape where honey harvest, agriculture, ancestry and land care are intertwined. At the same time, Apis cerana box-hive beekeeping offers a lower-cost smallholder pathway. In 2025 the State Secretariat for Cooperatives began a two-year mapping and training partnership to identify honey-production potential in Ermera, Liquiçá, Aileu, Manatuto and Bobonaro.
