Country
Syria
Syria's honey sector survived a devastating conflict and is now trying to rebuild under severe drought and forage pressure. The Agriculture Ministry reported more than 532,000 hives and about 3,518 tonnes of honey for 2024. FAO identifies citrus, black-seed, anise, eucalyptus, wildflower and mountain honeys across coastal, northwestern, central and southern areas. The native Levantine honey bee Apis mellifera syriaca remains an important regional Bee relationship, but modern apiary genetics require caution after years of colony loss, movement and replacement.
