Palestine

Taking shape PS / PSE Asia

Palestinian beekeeping spans the West Bank and Gaza, but the two landscapes now carry very different stories. In the West Bank, honey remains a rural-livelihood and cooperative value chain; in Gaza, war has devastated forage and apiaries on a massive scale. United Nations reporting in 2025 said more than 76% of bee-dependent vegetation had been destroyed and about 27,000 of 30,000 hives lost. By August 2026, surviving Gaza beekeepers were rebuilding colonies from the small number of hives that remained. HC therefore treats Gaza both as a honey landscape and an active Chronicle story, without turning conflict losses into timeless geography.
