Country
Maldives
The Maldives is currently a research-gap country rather than a mature honey-production landscape. A 2017 report described a Maldivian family's tiny household harvest as the country's first known honey harvest after years of experimentation. Later scientific work focused on the quality of imported honey, reinforcing that the domestic market depends heavily on imports. The islands do host a documented diversity of flower-visiting bees, but this pass found no strong current evidence for a commercial national beekeeping sector, a protected honey region or a verified native honey-producing Bee system suitable for automatic seeding.
